  • Obtain the official installer from trusted sources (Microsoft support pages or the game publisher) and run repair or reinstall.
  1. Disable real-time antivirus temporarily (false positives are common). Re-enable after setup.
  2. Download the Ultimate ASI Loader from its official GitHub (as described in Method 2).
  3. Extract the ZIP to your game’s root folder. Example: D:\Games\Grand Theft Auto IV\GTAIV\
  4. Right-click Xlive.ini > Properties > Uncheck “Read-only”.
  5. Open Xlive.ini and set LogToFile = 1 for troubleshooting.
  6. Launch the game via its main executable.
  7. Check for a new log file (xlive.log) in the same folder. If the log appears, the INI is working.
