Waves Tune Real-Time Tutorial: Quick Start Guide
What is Waves Tune Real-Time?
Unlike the original Waves Tune (graphical, manual editing), Waves Tune Real-Time corrects pitch instantly with near-zero latency. It is ideal for:
The Display (The Piano Roll & LCD)
- The incoming pitch is a white line moving left to right.
- The green blocks are the target pitches (based on your key/scale).
- If the white line is higher than the green block, you are sharp. Lower? Flat.
By mastering these few controls, you’ll move past the "set it and forget it" phase and start using pitch correction as a creative tool rather than just a safety net. waves tune real time tutorial
Basic controls explained
- Scale: Select the key and scale (Major, Minor, Chromatic, etc.). This determines which notes are considered "in key".
- Note Transition / Correction Speed: Controls how quickly the pitch is corrected. Faster values produce the classic robotic effect; slower values sound more natural.
- Retune Speed: Primary control for correction aggressiveness. Start around 20–40 ms for subtle correction; 0–10 ms for strong effect.
- Pitch Centering / Humanize: Adds small pitch variations to prevent over-quantized, mechanical sound. Increase for natural feel.
- Formant: Preserves natural timbre during pitch shifts; useful for aggressive correction to avoid chipmunk or thin vocals.
- Vibrato: Detects and preserves natural vibrato; set sensitivity to avoid flattening it.
- Tracking/Response: Adjusts how strictly the plugin follows pitch — higher for fast runs, lower to ignore brief off-notes.
- Scale Editing (if available): Lock only specific notes or create custom scales to avoid unwanted pitch correction on passing tones.
Input Mode: If you are tracking live, ensure "Low Latency" is engaged in your DAW settings so the singer doesn't hear a delay. 2. Set the "Rules" (Scale & Key) Waves Tune Real-Time Tutorial: Quick Start Guide What

6. Troubleshooting & Tips
-
Speed: How fast the plugin snaps the voice to the note. 0.1 ms is instant; higher numbers allow for natural pitch "slur".
- Lower (0–30%) = looser, more natural.
- Higher (70–100%) = tight, obvious Auto-Tune effect.
