Historically, the PDS in Tamil Nadu faced challenges common to massive welfare schemes: duplicate ration cards, delayed supply chain updates, and the harassment of standing in long queues at ration shops (Amudham / Uzhavan stores). The TNPDS portal was introduced to solve these issues by putting data in the hands of the citizen.
