Thumbsplus Webp [exclusive]

As of April 2026, ThumbsPlus does not natively support WebP for thumbnailing or viewing in its current core versions, including Version 10. While the software remains a powerful legacy tool for organizing large image libraries, its development has faced significant hurdles following the passing of its original creator in 2024. Problem: WebP animation (WebP animated) doesn't play

Note: ThumbsPlus is designed for still images. It will only show the first frame of an animated WebP. For GIF-like animations, use a dedicated player. thumbsplus webp

1. Open ThumbsPlus.
2. Navigate to Options > Preferences.
3. Go to the File Loaders or Image Decoders tab.
4. Ensure that "Use WIC (Windows Imaging Component)" is checked/enabled.
5. You may need to force a refresh. Go to File > Database > Maintenance and select "Rebuild Thumbnails" for specific folders.
