Here’s a concise review of Sword Art Online Re: Hollow Fragment (SKIDROW release refers to the cracked PC version, but the review focuses on the game itself).

The Bad

  • Grind Overload – To see everything, you will grind. Levels, weapon mastery, affection, skills, Hollow Area data points… it’s overwhelming and repetitive.
  • Outdated Quest Design – Fetch quests, invisible collectibles, and unclear objectives. The Hollow Area requires a guide to navigate efficiently.
  • Multiplayer Dead – The ad-hoc multiplayer (originally for PS4/Vita co-op) is technically present but near-impossible to use on PC. Treat it as a single-player game.
  • No Real Tutorial – The game throws dozens of systems at you with minimal explanation. Expect to rely on wiki/Steam guides.

The Port & SKIDROW Notes

Let’s address the elephant in the room: this is a repack of the 2015 PlayStation 4 remaster (originally a PS Vita game). The SKIDROW release runs fine on most systems, but don’t expect a polished PC native experience. Menus are clearly designed for controllers (XInput works best; mouse/keyboard is painful), and the graphics options are barebones. That said, no major crack-specific bugs — it’s stable if you can stomach the dated visuals. Grind Overload – To see everything, you will grind

Technical State: Since its roots are on the PSP/Vita, environments can feel sparse and repetitive by modern standards.
