Getting Started: How to Install and Set Up Smaart v9
If you work in live sound, acoustics, or system tuning, you know that Rational Acoustics Smaart is the industry standard for measurement and alignment. With the release of Smaart v9, the software has moved to a more flexible, modular framework, boasting a sleeker interface and improved multi-window capabilities.
- Set your Reference (Ref) to the direct output of the signal generator (or a loop-back cable).
- Set your Measurement (Meas) to your measurement microphone input.
- Go to the official Rational Acoustics portal:
https://portal.rationalacoustics.com - Log in with your Rational Acoustics account (create one if you haven’t purchased yet – a demo is available).
- Navigate to “My Downloads” or “Software”.
- Select Smaart Live v9 (not v8 or Suite).
- Choose your operating system:

Choose your installation directory (the default is usually

- Use an external, calibrated measurement mic and stand.
