Installation Procedures

There is no official English firmware or "English software" disk for the AVIC-DRZ09.

  1. Disable the Navigation Module: Unplug the GPS antenna and the Gyro box. The unit will stop trying to load maps.
  2. Use the "AV" Mode: Force the unit into Audio/Visual mode.
  3. Learn the 5 essential buttons: Memorize the position of "Volume," "Audio DSP," "Source," and "Eject." You don't need to read Japanese to press a button in the 3rd row, 2nd column.
  4. Bluetooth Audio: Use an external Bluetooth receiver (like an Audioengine B1) plugged into the Aux input. Control your music from your phone.
