Step-by-Step Guide (Flashtool)

  1. Download and install Flashtool + XperiFirm plugin.
  2. Open XperiFirm → Select SO-01J (Docomo Japan) → Download the desired firmware version.
  3. Build an FTF bundle (Flashtool does this automatically).
  4. Backup your TA partition (DRM keys) if bootloader is still locked (requires backup beforehand).
  5. Turn off the Xperia XZ.
  6. Open Flashtool → Click lightning icon → Flashmode → Select SO-01J FTF.
  7. Wipe options: Check DATA, CACHE, APPSLOG for a clean restore. Uncheck SYSTEM if preserving data.
  8. Hold Volume Down while connecting USB to enter Flashmode.
