- The Frenzy (Phase 2): 50% health threshold. Speed doubles. Walls no longer stop it.
- The Void Walk (Phase 3): 25% health. Teleports behind you every 15 seconds. Instant kill if you look at it.
- Imagery Rehearsal Therapy (IRT)
- Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Insomnia (CBT-I)
- Trauma-focused therapies (EMDR, prolonged exposure)
- Medication review (prazosin for PTSD-related nightmares in some cases — clinician decision)
- Sleep medicine referral for parasomnias or REM behavior disorder
Act II – West Wing & Basement
- Objective: Restore power via the fuse box (needs 4 fuses).
- Hiding change: Taker can now open unlocked closets. Lock them by turning the knob twice.
- Boss avoidance: In basement, move only when the Taker’s groan echoes (every 45 sec).
Result: You save 4 minutes and deny the Nightmare its favorite ambush corridor. nightmaretaker guide top
Step 1: The Setup (Pre-Engagement)
Do not trigger the boss room immediately. Instead, run laps around the arena. The Nightmaretaker cannot spawn until you pick up the Black Tear Idol. While running: There is no widespread public record or established
- Over-committing to chases: If a survivor has run you for 20 seconds without a hit, leave. You are falling for the "babysitter" strategy. Go break gens.
- Waking survivors up early: Never hit a survivor who is inside a Dream Trial unless absolutely necessary. Hitting them wakes them up instantly, giving them back full sanity. Let the timer run out naturally for max sanity drain.
- Ignoring the HUD: If you see a survivor's portrait blinking purple, they are about to go insane. Do not chase them. Chase the healthiest survivor. The insane one will go down in one hit later.
- Using your ultimate too early: The Nightmare Taker’s Embrace requires 3 survivors below 30% sanity. If you use it at 35%, it fails and goes on a 60-second cooldown. Be patient.
