The MINIX NEO X8-H officially runs on Android 4.4.2 KitKat . While newer "Plus" models received Lollipop (Android 5.1), the standard X8-H is officially limited to KitKat due to hardware differences. MINIX Forum Official Firmware Releases

Flashing process:

  1. Unplug the Minix NEO X8-H from power.
  2. Connect the micro USB cable to the PC (but NOT to the Minix yet).
  3. Press and hold the reset button (inside the AV port with a paperclip).
  4. While holding reset, connect the micro USB cable to the Minix’s USB OTG port (the one nearest the Ethernet port).
  5. Connect power adapter to the Minix.
  6. Release reset after 3–5 seconds.
  7. In USB Burning Tool, you should see “HUB2-1 / Connected” (or similar).
  8. Click Start.
  9. Wait for progress bar to reach 100% (about 3–5 minutes).
  10. Click Stop, close tool, unplug USB and power.
  11. Connect HDMI and power – first boot takes ~5 minutes.
