Performance & Stability (C4D 2024.2 + Redshift 3.5.24)
- Viewport & simulation: C4D 2024.2 feels snappier than 2023, especially with the new particle system and improved rigid body dynamics.
- Redshift 3.5.24: This version handles heavy scenes well. I rendered a 10-million-polygon architectural scene with displacement and volume lighting – no crashes. GPU memory management is noticeably better than in 3.5.19.
- Known minor issue: On Windows, if you have both CPU and GPU rendering enabled, the first render after launch takes ~10 seconds longer. Disable CPU fallback unless needed.
- Node Editor Confusion: Redshift 3.5.24 does not support the new "Redshift Standard Surface" introduced in later builds. It uses the legacy "RS Material." Do not open a scene saved in Redshift 3.6+ in this version—the materials will go black.
- MacOS Sonoma 14.5+: Users report that the Redshift IPR (Interactive Preview Render) freezes on the splash screen with 3.5.24 and Sonoma 14.5. You must roll back to Sonoma 14.4 or use Ventura.
- Third-Party Denoisers: OptiX denoising works fine, but Intel OIDN denoising is broken in 3.5.24 if you use tiled rendering.
