Troubleshooting Common Issues on Windows 7
A driver is software that allows your computer to communicate with your printer. Without a driver, your printer won't be able to function properly. When you connect your HP DeskJet 2700 to your Windows 7 computer, the operating system may not automatically recognize the printer, which is why you need to install the driver.
- Keep the PC offline except when downloading drivers.
- Use USB connection only (no network printing).
- Install all final Windows 7 security updates (via ESU – Extended Security Updates, if you have a corporate license).
Method 3: Extract the Driver from HP Smart (Advanced)
Some users have successfully extracted the raw driver files from the Windows 10 version of HP Smart. This requires a second computer running Windows 10 or 11.
