Verifying you have the latest official update
- Ensure your Switch is connected to the internet.
- On the Home Menu, highlight Final Fantasy IX.
- Press the + / - button → Choose “Software Update” → “Via the Internet”.
- Wait for any available update to download and install.
- In the Switch system settings → Data Management → Software → select the game to view installed version and data size.
Warning: Avoid older scene releases that lack the update. The base 1.0.0 version has noticeable lag in the battle menu and lower quality BGM.
Active Time Battle (ATB) System: The ATB system adds a layer of strategy to battles, requiring players to think on their feet and make the most of their abilities and items.
