Understanding how Archicad language packs and localized versions work is essential for architects and BIM managers operating in international environments. Unlike some software where you can toggle a language setting in the preferences menu, Archicad’s language is deeply embedded into the program’s core structure. • Server Language: The BIMcloud has a base language. When you join a project, you see the language of your local ArchiCAD, not the server.
• The Danger of Renaming: If you rename a Layer or Building Material in your local language, and a teammate using a different language pack renames it again, the server will register these as two different attributes. This causes a “Conflict” warning.
• Best Practice: Agree on a base language for the firm (usually English). All other users run the language pack, but they must check “Show Original Name” in the Work Environment settings to see the English attribute names under the hood.
